Terrific tomatoes at Nonna’s

On Monday 11th August, Nonna’s food and wine club celebrates one of the great ingredients of Italian cooking with its Tomato Festival.  The event, which costs £30 per person, centres on a five course meal, which reveals the humble tomato in its various guises.  Vegetarian options are available and booking is advised. 

New reviews for Sheffield restaurants

New reader reviews have just been added for Sette Colli  in Hillsborough and 23 Bar & Restaurant in the West One complex. 

23 seems to be going from strength to strength and was recently name ‘Restaurant of the Year’ at the Sheffield Area Restaurant awards.  At the same awards, Nonna’s took the award for best ‘Modern European Restaurant’, WasabiSabi were named as the best ‘Oriental/Asia Pacific Restaurant’ and Moran’s scooped the award for ‘Outstanding Service’.

Sheffield’s vegetarians will be spoilt for choice during National Vegetarian week which starts on 19th May.  In addition to the vegetarian tapas evening on offer at Cubana tapas bar, Nonna’s on Ecclesall Road are hosting their third vegetarian night on May 19th. The four course menu, which is also suitable for vegans and coeliacs, is priced at £29.50 per person.

The perennial Sunday problem of whether it’s too late for breakfast or too early for lunch has been addressed by Nonna’s Italian restaurant on Ecclesall Road, which has just launched a new brunch menu.

From home made buttered crumpets to eggs florentine and Omelette Arnold Bennett, the menu has something for everyone. The Sunday Brunch menu is available from 10:00am to 5:00pm.  Eat first, then decide later if you’ve indulged in a late breakfast or an early lunch!
