May News
May 3rd, 2007 CheffyIt’s been an exciting few weeks over at Grindleford’s boutique hotel and restaurant The Maynard. Not only have they had celebrity guest Dermot O’Leary, of Big Brother’s Little Brother fame, staying with them, but they’ve also snapped up an accolade from the AA.
The Maynard were delighted to inform us that they have been officially recognised by the AA, having been awarded a coveted AA rosette and a four star quality rating. To gain an AA rosette, establishments must ‘produce dishes of sound quality and clarity of flavours, using good fresh ingredients’ so it’s clear that AA inspectors were impressed.

Still over the in the Derbyshire fringes, The Walnut Club at Hathersage have just announced their new menu, which sees them using the fresh flavours of Spring in their organic dishes. Their 5-10-5 set menu has been very popular though, so this will be retained alongside the new a la carte menu, giving customers the chance to get a terrific three course set meal for only £20 every night except Friday and Saturday.

A few new restaurants will soon be opening in Sheffield city centre, as the Leopold Square development continues. Planned newcomers include a new tapas bar, a sister restaurant to the Wig & Pen, an up market cocktail bar and a classy pizza and pasta bar. It’s good to hear that we’ll soon have even more choices for city centre dining.
